Welcome back, again…

Yes welcome my car back again, ever since my dad got it for me i think the car spent more time away from me. Starting from repaint, tinting and now it’s back once more after going thru JPJ inspection for plate and colour changing.

Bodykit will be up next and followed closely by rims. Well rims is kinda headache for me, with the budget of Rm4k i was hoping to get some light weight rims(u must be thinking i’m crazy, drive uncle car wanna use light weight rim) but hey, imagine spending 3k on some taiwan replica rims which are almost double the weight) arrgghh must as well get something worth drooling? =p

Another problem, where the heck can you get japanese rims for Rm4k?That’s not even enough to buy the rims alone. Yes i’m aware of that so i started searching for 2nd hand ones from chop shop. Well ignore the pricing 1st, i talked to a few who have some knowledge on rims ie Jason and he showed me a few of the website and i was drooling over Rays G-games 77M with red lining at the edge of the rim

Look cool ain’t it?i was browsing ZTH and see if i’m lucky to meet anyone who is willing to sell in 2nd hand and i’ve found one who is selling it for 3.8k which was used for 6/7 months. Great news, direct seller and it’s within my budget, scroll down and see, I’m 4 months too late. -.-”

Jason then suggest me to call Stamford(dealer)to check how much they are selling for the new one, well i did called and they said they will call me back but it has being 2 days already still no news. I was wondering is it that i given them the wrong number :D But nvm, i don’t think i can afford a new one where the 2nd hand one is near to Rm4k.

Then the ultimate test came, my dad!!lol, nah he’s a very good dad but i think he don’t really like car modding. Or maybe he’s being there b4 and feel it’s a waste of money =p

Anyhow in the end i manage to speak my way out and he sort of agreed, so he called one of his friends to help me to choose and see what’s within the budget. At the end he told me that he feel OZ is worth getting. So i again happily goes to my comp and see if there’s any nice OZ rims and came to this

OZ Superturismo GT, nice rims with 16 spokes, should look nice cos i’m getting 17″ so the spokes wouldn’t look too short. Then again i seek Jason’s advice and he asked me to check out the weight of this rim, here’s the catch with this rims, it weight 9.4kg

Sounds reasonable? The thing is there’s another choice with this

The infamous OZ Superleggera, which OZ claimed they created this rims using F1 technology. Weighting just 6.9kg for a 17 inch.

let do a rough calculation here, that’s like 10kg in total?

Yes i do love the Superturismo GT design alot but with 10kg extra? No thanks, I think I’ll just go ahead with Superleggera. Advantage?

1. Lighter

2. Less spokes, easier to wash =p

3. I actually asked quite some opinion from a few car enthusiast, they feel my car will look better with Superleggera. Yes i might prefer Superturismo GT more but heck, 10kg!!(I wanna diet 10kg and you wanna add 10kg back to my car?) LOL Moreover Superleggera design ain’t too bad either.

So that’s the end of my rim search report, here’s some info you might need incase you are looking for rims too

1. This website tells you what size does each design has, i failed to find sizes in OZ Racing website

2. This calculator is used to calculate how much diff btw your old tyre size and future tyre size, well it’s abit technical but at the end it will show you how many % of a different your speedo will show.

3. Got this from Jason, give you a rough idea on rim’s weight

That’s all for now and sorry for no pictures, i took some with my phone but my phone cam is juz pure shit!!
Will post up when i got my car completely done. =)
